Ac h C air Prante called the meeting to order. Commissioner Young
and Commissioner Tuttle were also present.
Chair Prante explained that this item is a continuation from
the September 26, 1984 meeting to determine the situation with the
Hurtley dog.
Chair Prante stated that the County has looked into the legal
ramifications and have spoken with the people involved. Chair
Prante continued that since we are a society of law, the County has
no recource but to name the dog as involved and the dog then will be
put to sleep. Chair Prante said that this decision is not an easy
one to make but after checking into the situation in great detail
and the latitude of the Board, this decision has to be made.
Chair Prante entertained a motion.
MOTION: TUTTLE moved that under the ordinance and state statute
that the dog in question be uthenized in a humane manner.
PRANTE: Second
Commissioner Young said that his philosphy is that the dog is a dumb
animal and dumb animals do not break laws, people break laws.
VOTE: TUTTLE, yes; YOUNG, abstain; PRANTE, yes.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
