Karen Green, Legal Counsel, was also present. Commissioner Tuttle was absent. 1. Amendments to the Agenda Chair Prante read aloud the amendments to the agenda. She stated that Amendment No. 1 (Discussion of Radio Interference Problem) has been postponed until Friday, October 31. 2. Possible Signature of FEMA Agreement for Emeraencv Services FY MINI -CCA This item was taken first so that Terry Silbaugh could hand deliver the agreement to offices in Salem. MOTION: MAUDLIN moved for signature of contract with Springtime Irrigation for landscaping of new administration building. PRANTE: Second. PRANTE: Second. VOTE: MAUDLIN: Yes PRANTE: Yes Possible Approval of Weekly Warrant Vouchers The amount of the weekly vouchers is $104,323.56 MOTION: MAUDLIN moved for signature of weekly warrant vouchers subject to approval. PRANTE: Second. VOTE: MAUDLIN: Yes PRANTE: Yes Discussion of Landfill Proposal This was a discussion to possibly reduce the days of operation at the Fryrear and Southwest landfills. Mike Miller, Solid Waste Manager, asked the Commissioners if they had any questions regarding the report submitted by his department. Commissioner Maudlin stated that he has no objections to this proposal, but he believes that the public should be given the chance to comment on these changes and that the changes be posted at the landfills. Chair Prante suggested that the changes be published in the local papers. Chair Prante and Commissioner Maudlin gave their approval. Other Staff/Public Concerns Mike Maier stated that there has been a request for the Board to consider having the day after Thanksgiving as a holiday in lieu of Veteran's day. He stated that having a holiday during the week is confusing for the public. He further stated that Helen Rastovich has had to pay people time and a half to keep her office open so that people can REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 10/22/86 PAGE 3 come in to pay their taxes. Karen Green stated that there may be a problem if Veteran's day is a mandated holiday. Mike Maier recommends that if this is possible we should do it. He also stated that there is more activity on Veteran's day than there is on the day after Thanksgiving. Chair Prante gave the board's approval contingent upon the legal ramifications.
