L RESOLUTION NO. 87 -007 81i GE 692 WHEREAS, the Public Works Department has surveyed the a ail - ability of used forklifts within the State of Oregon and Des- chutes County; and WHEREAS, such used equipment is, to a certain extent, unique by the nature of being in as is condition; and WHEREAS, proposals were requested from any and all persons who would be interested in supplying the County's requirement in a forklift; and WHEREAS, two (2) proposals were received, one from Pape' Bros., Inc., in a net purchase price of NINETEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS and No /100 ($19,500.00) for a Caterpillar V80 forklift, and another proposal from Halton Tractor Co. in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS and No /100 ($20,250.00) for a Caterpillar V80 forklift; and WHEREAS, no other suitable used forklifts are available to the County; and WHEREAS, a lack of formal bids will not result in favoritism or substantially diminish competition in awarding the contract; and WHEREAS, the exemption from competitive bidding will result in a substantial cost savings over the life of the equipment, a limited number of persons are available to make proposals or bids on such equipment, and considering the fact that the used equip- ment is unique; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, as follows: Section 1. That exemption from the requirements of County Ordinance 203 -8 be granted for the purpose of purchasing one (1) used Caterpillar V80E forklift, Serial #74X00519, as proposed by Pape' Bros., Inc., in the total cost of NINETEEN THOUSAND FIVE 1 - RESOLUTION NO. 87 -007 VOL 8IPAGE 693 HUNDRED DOLLARS and No /100 ($19,500.00) F.O.B. Deschutes County Shops, Bend, Oregon. Section 2. That the Director of Public Works is authorized to enter into an acceptable purchase agreement for the purchase of said equipment. Section 3. That the purchase agreement authorized in Sec- tion 2 of this Resolution be subject to the inspection of the equipment by Deschutes County and approval of the equipment by the Director of Public Works.
