DISCUSSION ON PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACK EVALUATION STANDARDS
The Board discussed the County standards on back
evaluations required for certain positions. There was
not a specific policy requiring applicants for the
Juvenile Detention Worker positions to have a physical,
however, they had been evaluated under the standards
established for the Sheriff's Department.
It was decided that the County would evaluate these
standards in light of the Oregon Revised Statutes which
prohibits discrimination of applicants because of
previous injuries unless the injury impairs the work
required.
THROOP: I would move that the Board of Commissioners,
with the help of Legal Counsel and the personnel
director, take a look at the policy and make it more
clear.
