DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Chairman Maudlin called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. Board
members in attendance were Dick Maudlin, Tom Throop, and Lois
Bristow Prante. Also present was Rick Isham, County Counsel.
1. CONVENE AS 4-H/EXTENSION BUDGET COMMITTEE
The 4-H/Extension Service Budget Committee convened to hold
a budget hearing on their 1988/89 fiscal year budget.
Budget Committee members in attendance were Denyse McGriff,
Ray Sohn, Sharon Hoobler, Dick Maudlin, Tom Throop, and Lois
Bristow Prante. Also present was Marvin Young, budget
officer. Ray Sohn read the budget message. There was no
one from the audience wishing to testify.
MAUDLIN: I would entertain a motion to approve the budget.
PRANTE: So moved.
THROOP: Second.
MAUDLIN: Moved and seconded. All in favor say aye.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS APPROVAL
2. ORDER NO. 88-025
Before the Board was a public hearing on Order No. 88-025, a
final order creating the 9-1-1 County Service District.
There were no public comments.
MAUDLIN: I would entertain a motion to sign Order No. 88-
025.
THROOP: I'll make the motion.
PRANTE: Second.
VOTE: THROOP: YES

AWARD OF BID FOR HAMBY ROAD PROJECT
Before the Board was a request from the Public Works
Department to award the overlay contract for Hamby Road to
R.L. Coats, who came in with a low bid of $185,700. There
was some confusion on part of the Board as to who was to
receive the award, and staff was directed to confirm that
R.L. Coats was actually the party to be granted this
project.
THROOP: I'll move approval contingent upon verification of
companies and numbers.
PRANTE: Second.

AMENDMENT #9 TO MENTAL HEALTH AGREEMENT
Before the Board was a request for approval of Amendment #9
to the 1987-89 Mental Health Intergovernmental Agreement to
increase contract amount by $7,407.

OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL REQUEST
Before the Board was a request from Ralph Delamarter of the
Library to attend the Pacific Northwest Library Association
Conference in Junea, Alaska, during August of 1988. There
was some discussion on the fact that budgets were going to
be very lean this fiscal year, so there might not be enough
money in the Library budget to allow this travel.
PRANTE: I move approval subject to budget.
