1988-13306-Minutes for Meeting June 22,1988 Recorded 6/22/1988I 88-13306 (~(1q1=('►(1f~9 MINUTES DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS June 22, 1988 Chairman Maudlin called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. Board members in attendance were Dick Maudlin and Lois Bristow Prante. Also present were Rick Isham, Legal Counsel, Larry Rice, Public Works Director, and Mike Maier, County Administrator. 1. PUBLIC HEARING: ORDINANCE NO. 88-018 Chairman Maudlin opened the public hearing on ordinance No. 88-018, an ordinance relating to fill and removal. Because Commissioner Throop was not able to be in attendance at this meeting, he had requested that this item be continued to allow for his participation. Chairman Maudlin opened the hearing then continued it to Wednesday, June 29, at 10 a.m. 2. VACATION OF 17TH STREET Before the Board was consideration of Resolution No. 88-029, accepting the petition to vacate a portion of 17th Street in Hillman Subdivision, and consideration of Order No. 88-029, setting a public hearing. NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL PROGRAM Before the Board was a request from the Public Works Department for approval to apply for matching funds from the Oregon Department of Agriculture for the noxious weed control program. AUTOMATIC MAILING MACHINE .Before the Board was a recommendation from the County Administrator to approve a trial use of an automatic mailing machine to process County departmental mail. The trial period would be for 90 days. The machine is projected to save the County a substantial amount of money in postage fees due to its capability of automatically weighing a piece of mail or package to the exact weight instead of rounding off the amount of postage. APPOINTMENT TO LOCAL ALCOHOL AND DRUG PLANNING COMMITTEE Before the Board was a request from the Mental Health Department to appoint Eric Dolson to the Local Alcohol and Drug Planning Committee.
