RESOLUTION NO. 88 -069 WHEREAS, The Deschutes County Commissioners acknowledge that recycling saves valuable energy, natural resources and space in our landfills; and WHEREAS, in the past year, collection of recyclables from residences, businesses and offices within the County has recov- ered 1,400 tons of recyclable material; and WHEREAS, Deschutes County employees produce recyclable waste materials every day in the normal course of County business; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, as follows: Section 1. That the Week of October 8 -15, 1988, be declared Recycling Awareness Week and that the month of October by de- clared Recycling Awareness Month. We encourage all County residents to observe this time and take advantage of recycling opportunities available locally in Deschutes County throughout the year. In this way we can save valuable land fill space, preserve natural resources, conserve energy and create jobs for our many citizens working in industries which are dependent on a supply of used materials for manufacturing. Section 2. That the Deschutes County Commissioners hereby declare it to be the policy of the County that recyclable waste materials produced in the course of County activities are to be recycled whenever and wherever practicable.
