ness Week, and the Month of *
October, 1989, as Recycling *
Awareness Month in Deschutes *
County, Oregon.
RESOLUTION NO. 89 -084
WHEREAS, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners
acknowledge that recycling saves valuable energy, natural
resources and space in our landfills; and
WHEREAS, in the past year collection of recyclables from
residences, businesses and offices within the County has recov-
ered more than 1,600 tons of recyclable material; and
WHEREAS, Deschutes County employees produce recyclable waste
materials every day in the normal course of County business; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the month of October, 1989, is hereby pro-
claimed Recycling Awareness Month and that the week of
October 7 to October 15, 1989, is officially proclaimed Recycling
Awareness Week.
Section 2. That the Board of County Commissioners hereby
declare it to be the policy of the County to recycle waste
materials produced in the course of County activities whenever
and wherever practicable.
Section 3. That the Board of County Commissioners hereby
encourages our citizens to observe these days by taking advantage
of recycling opportunities available in Deschutes County
throughout the year. By all of us working together, we can save
valuable landfill space, preserve our natural resources, conserve
energy and create jobs.
