1990-09618-Resolution No. 90-027 Recorded 4/5/1990� ► - 18 90-0961' BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTE3 COUNT OREGON A Resolution Proclaiming the Month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Deschutes County, Oregon. * * * RESOLUTION NO. 90 -027 1 WHEREAS, over two million children are abused and neglected annually nationwide; and WHEREAS, child abuse is not an isolated problem; it affects each and every one of us as citizens, neighbors and parents; and WHEREAS, child abuse crosses all cultural, ethnic, economic and social lines; and WHEREAS, the Deschutes County Juvenile Department, District Attorney and Human Resources Department have stressed the protec- tion of children by expanding the County's preventive programs for the protection of children; and WHEREAS, the education of the public and the acknowledgment by the workers and citizens of our County is a substantial step toward the recognition of child abuse and its problems; and WHEREAS, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners has acknowledged through its programs and department funding the importance of the protection of the child; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, as follows: Section 1. The Board of Commissioners of Deschutes County do hereby proclaim the month of April, 1990, to be Child Abuse Prevention Month in Deschutes County and urge all citizens to be cognizant of the national and local programs being coordinated to provide ongoing protection of our children.
