WORK SESSION MINUTES
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
September 16, 1991
Chairman Maudlin called the meeting to order at 10 a.m. Board
members in attendance were Dick Maudlin, Tom Throop and Nancy Pope
Schlangen. Also present were Rick Isham, County Legal Counsel;
Karen Green, Community Development Department Director; Michael
Dugan, District Attorney; Brad Chalfant, Property Manager; Michael
Maier, County Administrator; Bruce White, Assistant Legal Counsel;
and Dave Leslie, Planner.
1. ASSURANCE OF COMPLIANCE
Before the Board was signature of an Assurance of Compliance
from the U.S. Department of the Interior indicating that the
Community Development Department would comply with Title VI of
the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This was required to enable to
the County to receive Historic Grant Funds from the U.S. Park
Service.
THROOP: I'll move approval.

2. REQUEST FOR OUT-OF-STATE TRAVEL
Before the Board was a request from the Sheriff that Deputy
Leon Skiles be authorized to attend a regional training
session regarding warrants and transportation of prisoners in
Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands on September 17-19, 1991. The
Sheriff indicated this training was essential to keeping the
jail facility up to date.
SCHLANGEN: I move approval of the out-of-state travel
request.
THROOP: I'll second the motion.
