Chair Throop called the meeting to order at 10:06 a.m. Board of
Commissioners in attendance were Tom Throop, Nancy Pope Schlangen,
and Barry Slaughter. Also in attendance were Rick Isham, County
Counsel; Tom Blust, County Engineer; Sue Stoneman, Support Services
Manager; Brad Chalfant, Property Manager; Frank Moore, Mental
Health Director; George Read, Planning Director; and Dave Leslie,
Planner.
1. CONSENT AGENDA:
Consent agenda items before the Board were: 1) award of
contract to Jay Breuner Construction for the construction and
installation of the animal crematorium for the Central Oregon
Humane Society; 2) liquor license renewals for Newport Chowder
Bowl at Sunriver and Terrebonne Dinner House; 3) signature of
Order No. 93-203, assigning the name of Promise Lane; and 4)
General Policy 93-09-01, Use of County Vehicles.

2. PUBLIC HEARING: ON ORDER NO. 93-186, PROPOSED EXCHANGE OF
REAL PROPERTY WITH RONALD A. AND LOIS RICHARDSON
Before the Board was a public hearing on Order No. 93-186, the
proposed exchange of real property with Ronald A. and Lois
Richardson.
Chair Tom Throop opened the public hearing. There being no
testimony, the public hearing was closed.

DECISION: ON THE "NO SHOOTING CORRIDOR" ALONG THE DESCHUTES
RIVER, ORDINANCE NO. 93-050
Before the Board was the decision on the "No Shooting
Corridor" along the Deschutes River. Bruce White described
the areas of the river that are to be closed to the discharge
of firearms.
Bruce White discussed implementation of the "No Shooting
Corridor". The proposed closure would be in effect starting
with the 1993 hunting season. The signs posting the area
would cost approximately $500 and the homeowners are willing
to pick pay for these. The Forest Service has offered to put
the signs up. The Public Works Department is donating the
posts for the signs. The signs will be received on October 6,
1993 and they will need to be put up on October 7 and 8 in
order to be ready for this hunting season.

Suzanne Johannsen reviewed the activities planned for
recycling awareness week.

Department.
