Chair Schlangen called the meeting to order at 4:10 p:m. Board of
Commissioners in attendance were Nancy Pope Schlangen, Barry
Slaughter, and Tom Throop. Also in attendance was Bruce White,
Assistant County Counsel.
Before the Board was Dog Hearing Case No. 94-2949 in which it was
alleged that certain dogs were found to be engaged in killing,
wounding, or chasing of livestock in violation of Chapter 6.12 of
the Deschutes County Code.
Officer Les Hamilton, Deputy of Deschutes County Sheriff's Office,
testified that the two dogs had been impounded.
Susan Ferrara testified that the dogs had been chasing her horses.
Fara Ferrara testified that the dogs had been chasing Susan
Ferrara's horses.
Lynda Lindelli testified that her dogs had not been chasing the
horses.
Anthony Lindelli testified that the two dogs had not been chasing
the horses.
C.T. Crumley, a neighbor, testified that he had never seen the dogs
chasing the horses.
Jeff Nelson, a friend, testified that he had never seen the dogs
chasing the horses.
Commissioner Throop stated the Board had no choice because
according to state law, the dogs must be put to sleep if they have
been chasing livestock.

I would move that the dogs be put to sleep in
a humane fashion.
