Chair Schlangen called the meeting to order at 1030 a.m. Board of
County Commissioners in attendance were Nancy Pope Schlangen and
Barry Slaughter. Also present were Rick Isham, Legal Counsel; and
Marlene Heck, Assistant Recording Secretary.
Chair Schlangen stated the purpose of this meeting was to make a
decision on whether to waive the conflict of interest with
Deschutes County Attorney, Rick Isham. She stated that she
believed the conflict should be waived, that Rick had given the
Board full disclosure, and that the Board had the opportunity to
talk with independent counsel. Chair Schlangen stated she felt
that Rick's judgement had not been clouded or impaired in any way.
She said that he had done nothing beyond what was in his course of
employment.
SCHLANGEN: I would like to move waiving of the conflict.
