RESOLUTION NO. 95-054
WHEREAS, thousands of dedicated public safety telecomm4#camions
personnel daily serve the citizens of the United States by'anSwoing
their telephone calls for police, fire and emergency medical services
and dispatching the appropriate assistance as quickly as possible; and
WHEREAS, the critical functions performed by professional public
safety telecommunications personnel provide an essential link between
the public and the agencies providing emergency services; and
WHEREAS, professional public safety telecommunications personnel
work to improve the emergency response capabilities of these
communications systems.through their leadership and participation in
training programs and other activities provided in part by the
Association of Public -Safety Communications Officials -International
(APCO); and
WHEREAS, APCO, an organization of nearly 12,000 persons engaged in
the design, installation and operation of emergency response systems,
has designated the second week of April to recognize public safety
telecommunications personnel and their crucial role in protecting life
and property; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, that the week of April 9-15, 1995, be designated as
"NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEER" in Deschutes County,
Oregon, in honor and recognition of the dedicated personnel of the
Deschutes County 9-1-1 County Service District. The vital
contributions they make enhance the well-being and safety of our
citizens.
