1996-35350-Resolution No. 96-123 Recorded 9/18/19969C-3 ,3r0 BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF A Resolution Declaring September 21, 1996, as Amateur Radio Awareness Day in Deschutes County, Oregon. III DESCHUTES �Y, OREGON .J c _ RESOLUTION NO. 96-123 WHEREAS, the County of Deschutes, Oregon, has more than 100 licensed volunteer members of Amateur Radio Emergency Service, many of whom have demonstrated their value in public assistance by providing emergency radio communications; and WHEREAS, these volunteer radio operators have donated 1,222.5 hours of service to Deschutes County during the Bessie Butte fire, Skeleton fire, Smith Rock fire, Ashwood fire, and Warm Springs fire and floods, as well as providing the only means of radio communication between the Deschutes County Red Cross and the aforementioned fire and flood shelters; and WHEREAS, these volunteer radio operators are licensed by the Federal Communication Commission to provide such volunteer services; and WHEREAS, these volunteer radio operators continually strive to update their communication skills through cooperation with the Deschutes Chapter of the American Red Cross, Deschutes National Forest, Hazardous Materials Team and the Bend office of the Oregon State Police, as well as on-going training drills; and WHEREAS, this year Amateur Radio Awareness Day will take place on Saturday, September 21, 1996; now, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners for Deschutes County, Oregon as follows: Section 1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby proclaims Saturday, September 21, 1995, as Volunteer Radio Operators Appreciation Day in honor of these dedicated persons who have contributed so much to our community and residents through volunteering their time, talent, equipment and energy. //ICROFIL,MED) 7 -.?— OCT `.?
