BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES CO�TY, OREGON
A Resolution of Support for the
Oregon Adopt -A -River Program.
RESOLUTION NO. 96-143
WHEREAS, under the direction of SOLV (Stop Oregon Litter & Vandalism) and the Oregon State Marine
Board, the Oregon Adopt -A -River Program is a statewide effort to encourage citizens to work with federal, state and
local government to clean-up the streams and waterways of Oregon; and,
WHEREAS, the Deschutes Basin Resource Committee has discussed the Adopt -A -River program and has
recognized the beneficial results that this program can have on the streams in Central Oregon; and,
WHEREAS, at a public meeting which included a presentation by the statewide coordinator for the Oregon
Adopt -A -River Program, the public in attendance overwhelmingly supported this program; and,
WHEREAS, the Deschutes Basin Resource Committee is continuing to work with the statewide coordinator
about the possibility of providing a local coordinator to further the program in Central Oregon; and,
WHEREAS, the Deschutes Basin Resource Committee, in its advisory role to the Deschutes County Board of
Commissioners and the Bend City Council, has recommended that both governing bodies offer their support and
assistance in fostering this program locally; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners wishes to register its support for the Oregon Adopt -A -River
Program and the local efforts to further this program in all of Central Oregon; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY,
OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Deschutes County, Oregon, hereby declares its public
support for the Oregon Adopt -A -River Program as recently recommended to us by the Deschutes Basin Resource
Committee and the intent to work in partnership with the public in furthering this effort locally.
