meeting to order at 10:06 a.m. County Commissioners present_were

1. APPROVAL OF WEEKLY ACCOUNTS PAYABLE VOUCHERS FOR THE 4-
H/EXTENSION COUNTY SERVICE DISTRICT
Before the Governing Body was approval of the weekly accounts
payable vouchers for 4-H/Extension County Service District in
the amount of $2,623.97.

OF AGATE ROAD, ALL LYING WITHIN AGATE LOCAL IMPROVEMENT
DISTRICT, AS COUNTY ROADS

establishing all of Crater Road, Obsidian Road, Opal Lane,
Turquoise Road and a portion of Agate Road, all lying within
Agate Local Improvement District, as county roads.
Tom Blust reported this was part of the Deschutes River Woods
area.

THE ENGINEER'S REPORT AND SETTING A HEARING FOR THE
IMPROVEMENTS IN THE AGATE ROAD LOCAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
Before the Board was signature of Order No. 97-080, accepting
road improvements, the Engineer's report and setting a hearing
for the improvement in the Agate Road Local Improvement
District.
Gary Judd reported this was setting a hearing. He stated the
actual cost of the contract was $562,000 plus approximately
$58,000 administrative costs for a total $620,437.98 which was
20% below the original estimate. Gary stated the original

estimated per lot cost was $3,997, but it was actually
$3,181.73.

Team Activities.
Jill McLane provide a list of the La Pine Community Action
Team Board of Directors. She reported they are now registered
with the State and are applying for their tax exempt status.
NIPPER: I would like to move that $1,500 be dedicated
to the census population study.

24. PRESENTATION ON EVEN START FAMILY LITERACY GRANT
Before the Board was a presentation on Even Start Family
Literacy Grant.
Carol Stiles and Karen Pautz from Central Oregon Community
College reported these were federal monies. The dollars were
to promote family literacy and they come through the state.
$168,000 was awarded over 4 years.
