1998-42145-Resolution No. 98-092 Recorded 7/30/199898-42145 1'S8 4 2 16 8 BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON A Resolution Identifying the Commission on Children & Families as Lead Group co Responsible for State Incentive Grant and Juvenile t -s c_ c Crime Prevention Planning r-- 77 W o RESOLUTION NO. 98-092 r- WHEREAS, juvenile crime, the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, teen pregnanc�Pmily.conflict and school failure are problems of critical importance to our community, and w WHEREAS, the highest return on our efforts occurs when we invest wisely and early in our children, youth and families and prevent problems before they arise, and WHEREAS, government is most effective and responsible when it seeks the highest possible level of citizen involvement and when it vests responsibility in those citizens for the health and welfare of the community, and WHEREAS, the lay citizens on the Commission on Children and Families are actively involved, informed and effective in providing leadership on issues that relate to children and families, and WHEREAS, the Commission will work closely with all sectors of the community including the public safety officials, churches, schools, agencies, and business on these important issues, and WHEREAS the 1997.2001 Community Comprehensive Plan documents critical topics that affect community livability, lists critical community priorities and should be supported in resource, policy and planning decisions, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, AND THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT that lead responsibility for planning related to Juvenile Crime Prevention and the State Incentive Cooperative Agreement be vested with the Deschutes County Commission on Children and Families. The Governing Board requests that the Commission prepare plans, projects and documents that are balanced and that emphasize the earliest possible investment in crime and drug abuse prevention. 13 A DATED this day of July, 1998.
