WHEREAS, a hearing was held before the Board of County Commissioners on Wednesday, April 28,
1999, to receive testimony on whether Eagle Rock subdivision, Deschutes, County, Oregon, would be benefited
by the restrictions set forth in Deschutes County Code Chapter 9.08, Discharge of Firearms; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds that notice of the public hearing on this issue was properly given and the
area to be included in the proposed firearms district was adequately described in that notice; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds from the testimony that the area included in the proposed firearms district
is a rural residential area that is becoming more and more populated; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds from the testimony of persons having personal knowledge of specific
instances of firearms discharged in and about the proposed firearms district that the discharge of firearms
threatens the personal safety of residents in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Board, having considered the testimony presented to it, now determines that the area
included in the proposed firearms district would be benefited by the restrictions of Deschutes County Code
Chapter 9.08; now, therefore,
THE BOARD OF COUNTY CONMSSIONERS OF DESC14UTES COUNTY, OREGON, ORDERS
as follows:
Section 1. That the territory described in Exhibit A and depicted on the map mark Exhibit B, attached
hereto and by this reference incorporated herein, be an area restricted in accordance with the provisions of
Deschutes County Code Chapter 9.08 regulating the discharge of firearms within that certain unincorporated
area of Deschutes County, Oregon.
Section 2. That upon adoption of this Order, the Deschutes County Road Department shall post signs
informing the public of the restrictions imposed by this Order on each road within the subdivision where the
road intersects the subdivision boundary. The Road Department shall bill the petitioners for the cost of erecting
such signs.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A public hearing regarding the proposed formation of Eagle Rock Firearms
District will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at 10 a.m. in the Board of
County Commissioners' Hearing Room, 1130 NW Harriman Street, Bend,
Oregon.
The boundaries of the proposed district are as specified in Exhibit 1, attached
hereto and by this reference incorporated herein.
The proposed district shall be referred to as the "Eagle Rock Firearms District."
The purpose of the proposed formation is to prevent the discharge of firearms
within the proposed district boundaries.
All interested persons may appear and be heard. Upon conclusion of the hearing,
the Board will enter its final order creating the district unless written requests for
an election are filed at or before the hearing by resident voters within the district
numbering not less than 15% of the registered voters, or 100 voters, whichever is
the lesser number.
The meeting location is wheelchair accessible. For the deaf or hard of hearing, an
interpreter or assistive listening system will be provided with 48 hours notice.
