An Ordinance Amending Deschutes County Code
Title 3, Personnel, to Clarify At -Will Employment
Status of Deputy District Attorneys, and Declaring
An Emergency.

ORDINANCE NO. 99-018
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON,
ORDAINS as follows:
Section 1. ADDING. Rule 7 of Tide 3 of the Deschutes County Code, Personnel, is amended
to add Subsection 7.46 as set forth in Exhibit "A," attached hereto and by this reference incorporated herein.
Section 2. ADDING. Rule 10 of Title 3 of the Deschutes County Code, Personnel, is
amended to add Section 10.7, Deputy District Attorneys, as set forth in Exhibit "B," attached hereto and by
this reference incorporated herein.
Section 3. EMERGENCY. This Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public
finances, an emergency is declared to exist, and this Ordinance takes effect immediately upon the date of its
adoption.

EXHIBIT "A"
7.46 Deputy District Attorneys. The provisions of the Deschutes County Personnel
Rules related to discipline and grievance procedures, including this Section 7.4,
DISCIPLINE OR DISCHARGE, do not apply to Deputy District Attorneys.
Deputy District Attorneys are at -will employees and are subject to appointment,
promotion, demotion, re -assignment within the office of the elected District
Attorney, discipline or discharge at the sole discretion of the elected District
Attorney.

SECTION 10.7 -DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEYS
The provisions of the Deschutes County personnel rules related to discipline and
grievance procedures, including this RULE 10 -GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE, do not
apply to Deputy District Attorneys. Deputy District Attorneys are at -will employees and
are subject to appointment, promotion, demotion, re -assignment within the office of the
elected District Attorney, discipline or discharge at the sole discretion of the elected
District Attorney.
