SOUTH CENTRAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COALITION RESOt-0-1 IV t—NSEL
RESOLUTION NO. 99-067
Whereas, domestic violence is one of society's most serious problems casting the
longest shadow from generation to generation;
Whereas, providing services to victims of domestic violence is most difficult in rural
areas due to distance and accessibility;
Whereas, the South Central Domestic Violence Coalition is emblematic of true
community involvement demonstrated by the coalition's extensive volunteer support;
Whereas, the South Central Domestic Violence Coalition seeks assistance from the
County to develop a safe place - Haven House - to respond to incidents of domestic
violence and to provide education and assistance to victims;
Now, therefore, the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners recognizes the fine
work to date of the South Central Domestic Violence Coalition and pledges earnest effort
to assist them in their goal. The Deschutes County Board of County Commissioners
supports the involvement of the County's restorative community work service teams to
assist in the construction of the Haven House project in the south/central-area of
Deschutes County.
This resolution also calls for the cooperation and coordination of services with existing
providers carried out in a manner that does not threaten the current level of service to
victims of domestic violence in Deschutes County.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners shall work
in partnership with the South Central Domestic Violence Coalition and its citizen volunteers
to establish Haven House.
DATED THIS 11th day of Augu 1999, by th Deschutes County Board of
Commissioners.
