Chair Tom De Wolf brought the meeting to order at 10: 05 a.m.
Present were Commissioners Tom De Wolf and Mike Daly; Commissioner Dennis
Luke was excused. Also present were George Read, Kevin Harrison, Chris
Schmoyer and Damian Syrnyk, Community Development; Laurie Craghead, Legal
Counsel; Jim Bonnarens, Property Management; Tom Blust, Road Department; Ted
Schassberger and Susan Mayea, Commissioners' Office; Sue Brewster and Jon
Sholes, Sheriff's Office; Kelley Jacobs, Juvenile Corrections; Debbie Legg,
Personnel; two citizens; and media representatives Anne Aurand of the Bulletin and
Barney Lerten of bendnet. com.
1. Before the Board was Citizen Input.
No citizen input was offered.
11. Before the Board was Discussion and Consideration of Signature of an
Amendment to an Offer from Mike Shields to Purchase a Lot in La Pine
Industrial Park.
Susan Mayea explained that the Amendment has to do with the cutting of the
timber off the property Mike Shields has purchased. Due to market conditions,
Crown Pacific does not want to cut and remove the timber before July 2002;
however, Mr. Shields wishes to begin construction much sooner than that and
needs the timber removed.

Quality Services Performed with Pride
The Amendment allows Mr. Shields and Crown Pacific to enter into an
agreement regarding the removal of the timber. Deschutes County will receive
the same amount of money in either case.
DALY: I move approval of this Amendment.
DEWOLF: Second.
VOTE: DALY: Aye.
DEWOLF: Chair votes yes.
Being no further agenda items offered, Chair Tom De Wolf closed the meeting at
10: 45 a.m.
