EXCERPT OF MINUTES OF ADMINISTRATIVE LIAISON Mike Daly
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, DECEMBER 179 2001
Present were Commissioners Dennis R. Luke and Michael M. Daly. Also present
were Jenny Scanlon, Commissioners' Office; Laurie Craghead, Legal Counsel;
Mike Viegas, Risk Management; Renee Warner, Building Services
Vice Chair Mike Daly opened the meeting at 1: 30 p. m.
1. Before the Board a Discussion regarding Filing a Lawsuit in a Room Tax
Collection Case.
The Commissioners moved for approval for Legal Counsel to file a confession
of Judgment Request to contact the U.S. Forest Service. This action is
regarding the situation with Twin Lakes Resort, and to conduct research on
whether the County can file a judgment against the U.S. Forest Service. The
total amount owed at this time is $10,409.36.
2. Before the Board was a Discussion on Obtaining an Air Quality Test for
the Human Services Building.
The Commissioners moved to approve that $3,500 be expended from the Risk
Management budget to pay for an air quality test for the second floor of the
Human Services Building.

3. Before the Board was a Discussion of OSHA Inspections and Complaints
about Violations in the Jail Facility.
A discussion occurred about numerous OSHA complaints regarding plumbing
and other violations in the Jail facility. Mike Viegas explained that there are
penalties involved and a timeline to fix problems. He will investigate further
and arrange for the necessary repairs, and report back to the Commissioners.
4. Before the Board was a Discussion of the Sale of County -owned Property
Located off Gift Road.
Steve Scott, Real Estate Broker of Record, asked for the Commissioners to sign
a letter that would return earnest money to a prospective purchaser of a County -
owned property off Gift Road, due to a failed sale. The Commissioners
approved this action.
Being no further items brought before the Board at this time, Vice Chair Daly
adjourned the meeting at 2: 30 p. m.
