MINUTES OF ADMINISTRATIVE LIAISON
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2004
Commissioners' Meeting Room - Administration Building - 1130 NW Harriman St., Bend
Present were Commissioners Michael M. Daly, Dennis R. Luke and Tom DeWolf.
Also present were Mike Maier, County Administrator; Susan Ross and Anna
Johnson, Commissioners' Office; and, for a portion of the meeting, Mark Pilliod,
Legal Counsel. No media representatives or other citizens were present.
This brief meeting began at 3:15 p.m.
1. Move into New Building.
Commissioner DeWolf has set aside blocks of time on his calendar that he
would like to use for going through files and packing, and requested that
nothing be scheduled during those time blocks without asking him first.
2. Request for Remodel.
Susan Ross stated that Juvenile Community Justice personnel have asked for
funding for a small remodeling project in their building, in order to add office
space and a conference room. The cost for the remodel should be about
$16,000, with furniture and equipment costing about $10,000. These costs
could come from the projects fund.
It was suggested that the next regular meeting with Juvenile staff be held at
their facility so the Commissioners can see first-hand why the remodeling
project is necessary.

3. Discussion of Veterans' Park.
Various representatives of veterans' groups have asked what the County intends
to do to appropriately honor veterans. Commissioner Luke said that the park
area in front of the Courthouse, which is meant to honor veterans and public
safety personnel, should be dedicated soon. Susan Ross will contact the
architect doing the Courthouse remodel, Scott Steele, to arrange for this to take
place.
4. Update on Printing RFP.
Commissioner Luke asked about the status of the printing RFP. Bonnie Baker
said that most of the required information has been gathered, and she will be
working with Susan Ross to put together an RFP. Mark Pilliod concurred that
the RFP is necessary due to the amount of dollars the County spends on printing
each year. Ms. Baker added that the time is right for other reasons as well,
since typesetting changes will be necessary due to many changes in department
addresses, and to determine if printing in full color will be an option.
Being no further items discussed, the meeting adjourned at 3:25 p.m.
DATED this 12th Day of April 2004 for the Deschutes County Board of
Commissioners.
