BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Providing For
the Placement of Traffic
Control Devices, to wit:
Gates, on Paulina-East Lake
Road, and Delegating the
Authority to Close Those
Certain Traffic Control
Devices to the Deschutes
County Sheriff and the
Oregon State Police.

WHEREAS, Deschutes County, by ordinance, has provided that
gates and barriers on and across roads and highways under the
jurisdiction of the County constitute traffic control devices; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish the gates and barriers
by proper Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to close said traffic control
devices in the fall of each year when it is in the interest of the
public safety that they be closed; and
WHEREAS, snowmobile traffic may operate on said roads beyond
the point of such closure; and
WHEREAS, when there ceases to be a safety hazard in traveling
beyond said traffic control devices that said gates be opened to
allow the free flow of traffic beyond the point where the traffic
control devices are located; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners having confidence
in the ability of the Deschutes County Sheriff and the Oregon
State Police to properly open and close such traffic control
devices; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That a traffic control device, to wit: a gate,
be placed at the following location:
10 miles East of Highway 97 on Paulina-East Lake Road.
Section 2. That the traffic control device be signed in
substantially the following manner:

ROAD CLOSED TO MOTOR VEHICLES (EXCEPTING SNOWMOBILES).
Section 3. That the opening and closing of the traffic
control devices established by this Resolution be hereby delegated
to the Deschutes County Sheriff and the Oregon State Police.
Section 4. That the Deschutes County Sheriff and the Oregon
State Police be authorized to close such gates when, in their
judgment, it is in the interest of public safety that they be
closed.
Section 5. That the Deschutes County Sheriff and the Oregon
State Police be authorized to open said gates when, in their
judgment, there ceases to be a safety hazard to traveling beyond
the location of said gates.
