40-484-Ordinance No. 81-040 Recorded 9/30/1981A ~ L 0 F UA84 BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON An Ordinance Requiring Dog Licenses; Providing for Dog ) License Fees and Exemptions; ) F 'E D Providing for Annual Licenses; ) Providing for Penalties; and ) fir, {y ~9$~ Declaring an Emergency. ) ROSEMARY PATTEPSON ORDINANCE NO. 81-040 DESCHUTES COUNTY CLERK WHEREAS, Deschutes County has established a Dog Control District; and WHEREAS, fees for dog licenses shall be established by the County; and WHEREAS, a new licensing program has been considered by the County; now, therefore, THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON, ORDAINS as follows: Section 1. keeping any og which months old, whichever becomes the owner or from Deschutes County Ordinance. A dog license fee for a dog in Deschutes County shall be $9.00, except that the fee for a spayed female or neutered male dog for which a Veterinarian's Certificate of Operation for the spaying or neutering of the dog is presented, shall be $5.00. The dog license for a dog owned by a senior citizen, age 65 years and older, shall be $3.00. Section 3. No dog license fee shall be required to be paid for any dog owned by a blind person who uses the dog as a guide. A license shall be issued for such dog upon filing with the County an affidavit by the blind person showing this exemption. Section 4. Dog licenses shall be valid for a period of one year from the ate of purchase. Any license sold by the County within 12 months before the date of this Ordinance shall be valid for a period of one year. Section 5. No person shall keep or maintain in his possession or under his control a dog within Deschutes County that is unlicensed by Deschutes County. ORDINANCE NO. 81-040, PAGE 1 Section 6. Violation of this Ordinance, by the keeping or maintaining o a dog that is not licensed in accordance with this Ordinance, is punishable by a fine of not less than $10.00, nor more than $200.00. Section 7. This Ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation o public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this Ordinances takes effect on its passage.
