Former Position/Class will not be refilled
Positions are currently being filled, however, the incumbents
will be replaced. The new employees will work substantially
reduced hours.
CETA employees.
The following exception to the Deschutes County Personnel Rule
will apply to the employees released from County Service and to
these who have had their hours cut back.
1. VACATION: Those employees who are scheduled to be released can
select one of the following options regarding vacation
time:
a) Payment for accured vacation - this will be
included in your final check
b) Maintain the vacation time on the books for 14
months, in the event of rehires,
c) Make arrangements with Department Offical to take
vacation prior to July 1st.
NOTE: Employee must notify their Department Official ASAP regarding their
choice and the Department Official must notify Jeri Schutte
ASAP so that the necessary paperwork can be completed (by June 25th).
These three options will also apply_ to eriploee_s_ whohave__not _ been
with the County at least 1 year.
2. SICK LEAVE: For those employees who are released because of the
layoff - their sick leave will remain on the books
for 14 months. In the event of their rehire, their
unused sick leave will then be credited,
3. BENEFITS: Those employees who have been reduced from full-time
to part-time, the County will continue to provide
Health Benefits as long as the employee:
a) Work at least 1/2 time
b) Employee does not file for partial unemployment
Page 6. Vol 34 PAGE 742
4. REHIRE; Throughout the upcoming year, as vacant positions
become available, the County will make every effort
possible to rehire the employees who have been released
from service because of budget constraints.
The decision regarding which employees to be released and/or cut back
in hours was based upon the recommendation of the respective department
officials. It was the responsibility of the department officials to
ascertain the most efficient method of utilizing the limited funds
allocated to their department.
The Board of Commissioners sincerely regrets this action, however,
given the budgetary limit the County has to deal with, such a decision
is necessary,
