County Roads )
This matter coming before the Board of County Commissioners on the application
of CHARLES PLUMMEER, Deschutes County Roadmaster, and good cause appearing therefor,
the Board of Commissioners RESOLVES as follows:
WHEREAS, it appears that severe winter weather has caused extensive frost
damage to roads throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, it appears that further heavy truck traffic over the frost -damaged
portions of the County road system will subject the roads to further damage that
will require repairs that would work a greater hardship on the users of the road
than would imposing load limitations and temporary closures until the weather
improves; and
WHEREAS, substantial unnecessary repair costs may be saved by imposed load
limits and temporary closures at this time,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. Pursuant to ORS 487.905, the Roadmaster may temporarily close any damaged
County Road until weather conditions allow its repair; and
2. The Roadmaster may impose a 10 -ton load limit on any County road which he
finds to be in disrepair and susceptible to substantial additional damage if used
by vehicles of 10 tons gross vehicle weight;
3. Provided, however, that these load limitations shall not apply to emergency
vehicles, government vehicles, and road maintenance trucks and equipment.
