WHEREAS, the Oregon Department of Transportation has proposed a
Six Year Improvement Program for highways in Central Oregon, and
WHEREAS, the widening of the railroad underpass on Third Street
was listed as one of the projects, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners feel the four laning
of Highway 97 from the north city limits of Bend to O'Neil Junction
north of Redmond has a higher priority;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Deschutes County Board of
Commissioners go on record recommending the four laning of Highway 97
from the north city limits of Bend to O'Neil Junction north of Redmond
be listed as a higher priority than the widening of the railroad under-
pass on Third Street in Bend.
Further, that any surplus funds from the four laning of Highway 97
be applied to Highway 20 from the east city limits of Bend to Denser
Road.
