22-185-Resolution Recorded 5/10/1976w IN THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE STATE OF OREGON FOR THE COUNTY OF DESCHUTES In the Matter of Amendment to Classification and Pay Plan as adopted June 25, 1973 VOL 22 PACE 185 3� R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Deschutes County is increasingly expanding the duties and services it provides for the public, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Deschutes County amends the Classification and Pay Plan as adopted on June 23, 1973 by amending the Librarian job descrip- tion as per attachment and eliminating the Senior Library Assistant 2006 from the job descriptions. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the County Librarian, who outlines pro- gram goals and reviews activities through conferentgs .and observation. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May exercise supervision of library as- sistants at discretion of County Librar- ian. EXAMPLES OF PRINCIPAL D_ 1. Assists.the County Librarian in policy and -administrative matters. 2. Supervises one major'phase of library activity, including, the planning and actual operation of such activity. Major phases include cataloging and classification of books and other docu- ments; children's department; and reference department. 3. May supervise and give instruction to., subordinate library em- ployees. 4. Performs various public relations activities, including co- operation with teachers, and service organizations. RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY: Considerable knowledge of professional library principles, methods and prac- tices; considerable knowledge of library reference materials and tools of resgarch; ability to perform effective library reference, cataloging, reader, advisory, and/or children's services and other professional library duties; ability to deal tactfully and courteous- ly with library patrons and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and the general public; ability to plan a major library program and promulgate activities insuring its effective operation. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Considerable experience as a Library' Assistant, with emphasis on para- professional duties, or experience as a professional librarian OR graduation froom a four year college or_uAPvexs ty,.prefsrablq. suppletnehte'd= by, coursework or graduate degree in library science OR any egni ialtnt-,tombthnIon of experience end treinit*�.
