This matter coming before the County Commission upon
the Planning Commission's recommendation who held a public hearing
on this issue, January 15, 1975, and February_1_2,__1475_,_a.n_dunamimously
recommended approval, and
The County Commission deeming this action to be in the
public interest and consistent with the Comprehensive Plan for
Deschutes County,
adopted:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that the following amendments be
Deschutes County Zoning Ordinance No. PL-5,
Add new zone as follows:
Article III, Exclusive Agricultural UBC Zone AR-1
Section 3.610 Uses Permitted Outright. In an AR-1 Zone
the following uses an their accessory uses are permitted
outright:
1. Farmir!g as defined in this ordinance.
2. Uses permitted in the R-1 zone.
3. Buildings and uses customarily provided
in conjunction with farming.
Section 3.615 Conditional'Uses Permitted. In an AR-1
zone the following uses and their accessory uses are
permitted when authorized in accordance with the pro-
visions of Article 7:
1. Public use.
2. Semi-public use.
3. Dude or guest ranch.
4. Commercial riding stable.
5. Kennel or animal hospital.
6. Guest house.
7. The expansion or creation of cinder,
gravel, quarrying, or mineral mining pits.
Section 3.620 Lot Size. In an AR-1 zone the lot size
shall be as follows:
1. The minimum lot area shall be five (5) acres
unless the lot is located in a Class II Rural
Subdivision as approved by the Planning
Commission pursuant to County Subdivision
Ordinance No. PL-2 providing for two and
one-half (22) acre lot sizes subject to
meeting the specified variance require-
ments. Class II Rural lot size provisions
may be applied to a division of land into
less than four (4) lots or a Planned Unit
Development. Upon application for a
variance, the Planning Director may approve

2. The minimum lot width shall be 300 feet
with a minimum street frontage of 150 feet.
3. The minimum lot depth shall be 400 feet.
Section 3.625 Yards. Except as provided in Article 6, in
AR-1 zone the minimum yard requirements shall be as follows:
1. A front yard shall be a minimum of 50 feet
between a building or structure and the
ultimate street right-of-way as adopted on
the Comprehensive Plan or Official Map.
2. A side yard shall be a minimum of 10 feet,
except that on corner lots the side yard
on the street side shall be a minimum of
50 feet.
3. A rear yard shall be a minimum of 50 feet.
Section 3.630 Signs. In an AR-1 zone the following signs
are permitted:

One name plat for each dwelling unit. The
sign shall not be more than one and one half
square feet in the area, and shall not be
illuminated.
One temporary sign advertising the sale, lease,
or rental of the property on which it is
located. The sign shall not be more than six
square feet in area, and shall not be illuminated.
One temporary sign within a subdivision
advertising the sale of lots within that sub-
division. The sign shall not be more than 64
square feet in area, shall not be illuminated,
shall be at least 10 feet from a front yard
or side property line.
One sign identifying the name of a farm or
ranch of 20 acres or more, a conditional use.
The sign shall not be more than 25 square filet
in area, shall not be illuminated, and shall
be at least 10 feet from a property line.
Done by order of the Board of Commissioners this 2nd
day of April, 1975, to become effective immediately.
