IN THE MATTER OF CHAIRMAN OF COMMISSION: At this time Commissioner Young nominated Commissioner Peden to be Chairman. Commissioner Peden accepted the nomination and will be Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for 1973. IN THE MATTER OF DESIGNATION OF NEWSPAPERS FOR 1973: At this time the Commission designated the Redmond Spokesman and Bend Bulletin as official newspapers for Deschutes County for 1973. The Bend Bulletin was designated the official paper for Real Property Foreclosures. IN THE MATTER OF APPOINTMENTS FOR 1973: At this time the Commission made the following appointments for 1973: Director of Public Works - Dave Hoerning Assistant Director of Public Works & Roadmaster - Charles Plummer Director of Emergency Services - Lester Houk Veterans' Service Officer - Russell Chase Abundant Food Representative - Elsie Holechek Health Officer & Medical Investigator - Dr. David S. Spence Secretary of the Deschutes County Rural Fire Association - Dale Knor Liason Committee Member to BOR - Albert A. Young Central Oregon Council of Governments Representative - Joe Peden; Alternate - Albert A. Young. IN THE MATTER OF APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS: At this time the Commission appointed Quentin Schwartz as a Commissioner for Special Road District #1 to serve a 3 -year term expiring January 1, 1975. IN THE MATTER OF LAND PURCHASE AGREEMENT: At this time the Commission entered into an agreement with Bruce and Elsa McCord for the following described real property situated in Des. County, Oregon: Lot I, Block 7, West Hills Addition for the sum of $3,500.00 to be paid in the following manner: $350.00 in cash and the balance in 120 equal monthly payments of $38.23 each including interest at 8%. At this time the Commission entered into an agreement with Gene and Nancy Amondson for the following described real property situated in Des. Co., Oregon: NWkSW4 Sec. ll, Twp. 20 S., Range 18EWM, less Co. Road R/W 40 acres M/L for the sum of $3,500.00 to be paid in the following manner: $350.00 in cash and the balance in 60 equal monthly payments of. $63.88 each including interest at 8%. At this time the Commission entered into an agreement with W. Neel Michael for the following described real property situated in Deschutes County, Oregon: WZNW4NE14NE$ Sec. 14, Twp. 17 S., R. 12 EWM, Excluding public R/W recorded in Vol. 15, p. 295, Commissioners Journal. 5 acres M/L for the sum of $4,100.00 to be paid in the following manner: $410.00 in cash and the balance in 60 monthly payments of $74.83 each including interest at 8%. -3- r VOL 16 MEW At this time the Commission entered into an agreement with Clifford G. and Virginia Williams for the following described real property situated in Des. Co., Oregon: S-E'SW4 Lot 1, Sec. 31, Twp. 15 S., R. 13 E.W.M., including 3 acres C01 water. 5 acres M/L for the sum of $4,250.00 to be paid in the following manner: $425.00 in cash and the balance In 120 equal monthly payments of $46.42 each including interest at 8%. IN THE MATTER OF -,CTHOUSE ANNEX EXPANSION: At this time the Commission entered into an agreement with Haynes Construc- tion Company for the Courthouse Annex Expansion. Work to be commenced January 8, 1973 and completed on April 30, 1973 for the sum of $166,952.54. IN THE MATTER OF A LEASE OF COUNTY LAND: At this time the Commission granted a grazing lease to Alan 0. Mathews. IN THE MATTER OF PERMITS ISSUED BY THE ROAD DEPARTMENT: At this time the Commission granted permission to the Road Department for permits concerning moving buildings, access, installing pipes, telephone cables, etc., to be issued and signed by the Director of Public Works with a copy sent to the Board of Commissioners for their review. IN THE MATTER OF REFUND OF TAXES: At this time the Commission ordered F. C. Sholes as Tax Collector to make the following refund of taxes: J. W. Nichols Taxes paid on wrong property $ 147.29 Sara Morss Double payment of taxes 170.03 Ist National Bank -East Bend Branch Error in payment of taxes 1,062.13 Western Bank, Coos Bay Taxes paid on wrong property 109.12 IN THE MATTER OF PERSONNEL ACTION: At this time the Commission approved the following personnel actions: Termination of Glen Godsey from Courthouse effective Dec. 28, 1972. Granted merit increase to Vivian McCloskey to $405.00 per month effective Jan. I, 1973. Placed Ardis Dillon on the Assessor Dept. payroll at $385.00 per month effective Jan. 1, 1973. Placed Don Wilson on the Data Processing payroll at $1,000.00 per month effective Jan. 2, 1973. Placed Sue D. Geurkink on the Board of Commissioners payroll at $395.00 per month effective Jan. 2, 1973. Placed Charlie Locke on the Courthouse payroll at $140 per month effective Jan. 2, 1973. Placed William Nicoson on the Solid Waste payroll at $385.00 per month effective Jan. 4, 1973. Granted vacation time pay of two weeks to Elsie Holechek in Abundant Food Dept. Placed Linda Sue Taggart on Juvenile payroll at $289.00 per month effective January 8, 1973. IN THE MATTER OF AMENDED PETITION BY THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION: At this time the Commission approved Petition #28, due to an error in transcription of minutes of Board meeting. Land value was decreased from $3,000 to $1,000 and it should have been from $3,000 to $2,000. IN THE MATTER OF ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL ACTION: At this time the Commission granted an extended leave of absence to Gerald W.
