The Court at this time granted a permit to John Bergman to build an access (201 access)
on or across Deschutes County right-of-way.

Deschutes County Safety Committee:
The Court at this time appointed Mel Newhouse; Charles Plummer; Walter Genes; Gordon
Davidson, Chairman; - to the Deschutes County Safety Committee. Meetings to be held
the first Tuesday morning of each month.
In the Matter of
Installation of Pipeline:
The Court at this time granted a permit to Neil Nollau to install a pipeline on or
across Deschutes County right-of-way.

In the Matter of Bid Opening:
On September 18, 1968 at 10:00 a.m., in the Deschutes County Courtroom, the Deschutes
County Clerk, Helen M. Dacey, read bids for Radio Communications System for the County
Road Department. Bids received were from General Electric 18,183.30; Motorola, 29,277.85;
Radio Corporation of America 19,1811.00. Bids are to.be studied by the County Court
and William C. James, Communications Director.
Comment; Commissioner Dorothy A. Smead went on record as opposing further action on
installation of proposed Communications System. That a need for such a system has not
been clearly shown and feels that for the best interest of the County that an engin-
eer study would be in order. Commissioner Smead, on September 11, had asked for a
reconsideration of bid -letting or attention given to the possibility of updating equip-
ment at the present time. She recognizes this item had been approved by the Budget
Committee but has asked for the Court to reconsider this budget item in the Road
Department.
Comment: Deschutes County Judge, D. L. Penhollow went on record in favor of going
ahead with this Radio System program.
In the Matter of
Land Exchange: The County Court made a Resolgtion declaring intention to make an
exchange of land with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S.A., and set the date of
October 11, 1968 as the date of Hearing in the Deschutes County Courtroom. The
description of the property being described on list attached to these minutes:

Liquor License:
At this time the Court approved a seasonal Liquor License for Mount Bachelor
Lodging, Inc.
In the Matter of
Personnel Deschutes
County Assessors Department:
The Court at this time Ordered the Deschutes County Clerk to place the name of
Sandra Warner on the Deschutes County Assessors payroll in the amount of $3600.00
per year, effective September 23, 1968.
In the Matter of
Personnel J -J Boys Ranch Dept:
The Court at this time Ordered the Deschutes County Clerk to place the name of Denis
Jones on the J -J Boys Ranch payroll at $25.00 per 24 hour day, effective September 14,
1968; - and the name of Alexander Trail on the J -J Boys Ranch payroll at $10.00 per
day, effective August 10, 1968.
In the Matter of
Board of Equalization:
The Board of Equalization met on September 26, 1968 and appointed Elmer L. Mahaffey
as Free Holder Member to this Board in accordance with ORS 309.020.

Refund of Taxes:
TieCourt-a=t is time Ordered F. C. Sholes as Tax Collector to make a refund of
taxes to Michael M. Mathews in the amount of $235.72.

Exchange of Properties:
At this time the Court met in a hearing as advertised, on the exchange of properties
between Deschutes County and William Durfee and Bernice G. Durfee:
The Court Ordered that an order of exchange be prepared and a deed
prepared to William and Bernice G. Durfee.
In the Matter of Personnel
Abundant Food Department:
The Court at this time Ordered the name of John Hollecheck
be placed on the Abundant Food Department payroll in the amount of $2.50 per hour,
effective September 19, 1968.
