At this time the Court entered into a Lease Agreement between Deschutes County
and John C. Arnett and Sheldon R. Arnett for Sunset Nursing Home; for the purpose of
conducting a nursing home to provide care and facilities for aged and infirm persons
requiring the need of such facilities upon those certain premises owned by Deschutes County.
The term shall be for ten years, commencing on the lst day of September, 1968, for a rental
amount of Four Thousand Eight Hundred ($4,800.00) Dollars per year, which money Lessee
agrees to pay to Lessor in monthly payments.
IN THE MATTER OF
OPENING OF SEALED BIDS:
The Court at this time opened sealed bids for the purpose of famishing and
placing asphalt and aggregate, for 0-33 sealing program and 0-11 and 0-9 asphalt penetra-
tion macadam for the year 1968 for Deschutes County Road Department. Of the four bids
from Horton Construction Company, Compton Company, Babler Bros,,, and Bend Aggregate: the
motion was made and seconded, and unanimously accepted to award the bid of 056,193.00 to
Babler Brothers, who gave the lowest bid.
IN THE MATTER OF
INSURANCE FOR
COUNTY EMLOYEES s
At this time the Court accepted the recommendation of the Insurance Committee
which voted to retain the present carrier (Prudential Hospital Association) for the
contract year 1968 to 1969 for Group Health Insurance. The new rates are as follows:
Employee $12.73
Employee plus one 26.25
$mployee plus two or more 35.50
These rates to be in force from September 1, 1968 to July 1, 1969.
IN THE MATTER OF
APPRAISER:
The Court at this time ordered the Deschutes County Clerk to place the name of
F. M. Roberts as Appraiser, on the Deschutes County payroll at a salary of $575.00,
effective August 1, 1968.
IN THE MATTER OF
CONTRACTS FOR
COUNTY -OWNED LANDS:
At this time the Court signed the following contracts:
Robert L. Coats & Joyap E. Coats, husband & wife, 1270 Trenton Ave., Bend, Oregon.
That portion of NE's lying North of Johnson Road in Sec. 6, Twp. 17 S., R. 12, E.W.M.
(approx. 25.2 A.) Purchase price $4500.00, payable $900.00 Cash, balance in equal
monthly payments of $100.00 each, commencing Augast 29, 1968 at 6% interest.

DESIGNATION OF
COUNTY PARK:
At this time the Court ordered the following described land to be set aside
for public use and access to the Little Deschutes River and known as Little River County
Park:
The unplatted portions of the N&J1E4 and Odhh of Section 17, Twp. 22 S.,
Range 10 E.W.M. (consisting of 27.81 acres and 36.24 acres), also Lots 11, 16, 17, 18
and 19 in Block 3 of Deschutes River Acres as platted in November, 1961 and recorded
in Deschutes County, January 26, 1962; also: lots 9 through 16 in Block 3 of First
Addition to Deschutes River Acres as platted in March, 1962 and recorded in Deschutes
County, March 21, 1962. (the platted portions being approximately 6 acres). The total
being approximately 70 acres, done according to ORS 203.120 (11).
IN THE MATTER OF
AGREEMENT:
The Court at this time entered into an Agreement governing use and cost of the
leased IBM 360 Model 20 Computer for the Deschutes County Road Department with North
Pacific Products Company.
IN THE MATTER OF
DIRECTOR OF PLANKING:
The Court at this time hired Lorin D. Morgan as Director of Planning for the
Deschutes County, with a starting salary of $12,500. He will assume his duties in
Deschutes County on October 1, 1968.
IN THE MATTER OF
CLERK DEPUTY:
At this time the Court ordered the Deschutes County Clerk to place the name
of Melba Hanifen, Clerk Deputy, for the Deschutes County Clerk on a fall time basis at
$275.00 per month, effective July 22, 1968.
