BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Opposing Ballot Measure 33 -
Amendments to the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act * RESOLUTION NO. 2004-114
WHEREAS the initiative petition known as Measure 33 would amend the Oregon Medical
Marijuana Act to require the creation of nonprofit marijuana dispensaries; and
WHEREAS Measure 33 would require county health departments in counties without licensed
dispensaries to become dispensaries and supply marijuana to registered patients; and
WHEREAS Measure 33 would require a county dispensary to provide indigent registered patients
with marijuana without cost; and
WHEREAS Measure 33 would increase the amount of marijuana one person could possess,
manufacture, grow and sell to amounts exceeding six pounds per year; and
WHEREAS the financial effect on Deschutes County in providing the dispensary and marijuana
as required would be contrary to the best public policy for health services in Deschutes County; and
WHEREAS Deschutes County should not be in the business of selling or dispensing marijuana;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners opposes the passage of Measure 33, and urges
the citizens of Deschut/es�Coounty and of Oregon to vote "no" on Measure 33 at the 2004 General Election.
