PAROLE & PROBATION DEPARTMENT
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26, 2005
Commissioners' Conference Room - Administration Building - 1300 NW Wall St.., Bend
Present were Commissioners Michael M Daly, Tom De Wo�fand Dennis R. Luke.
Also present were Mike Maier, County Administrator; and Becky Wanless. No
representatives of the media or other citizens were present.
The meeting began at 1:45 p.m., and copies of the agenda and other documents are
attachedfor reference.
The focus of the meeting in great part was a discussion of the Department's
budget, goals and objectives for Fiscal Year 2005-06. Ms. Wanless pointed out
that the Governor's proposed budget allocation for Deschutes County is $32,000
less than the previous year.
Other items addressed were the Department of Corrections' performance
outcomes, and the Attorney General's Administrative Rules regarding battering
intervention programs. Also touched upon was a proposed family violence grant
application that Judge Michael Sullivan had proposed be submitted; however, it
was determined that no departments or other entities had the manpower or up -front
funds to administer the grant should it be awarded.
Ms. Wanless also updated the Commissioners on the status of the transitional
housing area, and an overview of how interns are being utilized to staff the
program.

Measures
Recidivism - defined as the percentage of offenders that were
convicted of a new felony within 3 years of placement on
supervision (meaning date probation was imposed or date released
on post -prison supervision).
