Daly and Dennis R. Luke; Mark Pilliod and Mark Amberg, Legal Counsel; Mike Maier, County Administrator; Anna Johnson and Susan Ross, Commissioners' Office; Tammy Credicott, Property Management; Marty Wynne, Finance; Les Stiles Sheriff; Debbie Legg, Personnel; Timm Schimke, Solid Waste Department; Dan Despotopulos, Fair & Expo; and Dan Peddycord, Health Department. Also present were Tom Blust, Road; Becky Wanless, Parole & Probation; Hillary Saraceno, Commission on Children & Families; Mike Viegas, Risk Management; Tom Anderson, Community Development; Scott Johnson, Mental Health; Bob LaCombe, Juvenile; Dave Peterson, Information Technology; and Kathleen DeForrest, 9-1-1. No representatives of the media or other citizens were present. County Administrator Mike Maier called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. The meeting was called by Mike Maier so he could update department heads on an investigation that was currently underway involving the Director of Juvenile Community Justice and others. The Director of Juvenile has been placed on paid administrative leave. Minutes of Special Meeting Page 1 of 2 Pages Wednesday, July 27, 2005 He said that trying times were ahead, and he wanted to make department heads aware of a continuing investigation of serious allegations of misconduct and potential criminal charges. Business Risks, Inc. of Vancouver, Washington, is conducting the investigation at this point. The Lane County District Attorney is also involved to address any possible criminal charges. It will be some time before the results of the investigation can be released. However, in the meantime the situation will be highly publicized by the media. He asked that everyone refrain from speculation and try to ignore the rumor mill. Being no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m. DATED this 27th Day of July 2005 for the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners.
