Luke, Commissioner FROM: Joe Stutler, County Forester RE: May Monthly Meeting CC: Mike Maier, County Administrator Bonnie Baker, Executive Secretary AGENDA Wednesday, May 11, 2005 1:30 p.m. at Road Department 1) Community Fire Plan update: As of today, we have the following communities with a Fire Plan: Upper Deschutes, Sunriver, Sisters, Cloverdale, Black Butte Ranch and Camp Sherman. We are working on South County Phase II, with plans to address Bend, Redmond and all other unincorporated areas. No time table for completion. 2) Fire Wise Community Status/opportunities/conflicts/implications: We are coordinating with the Forest Service National Office, Oregon Department of Forestry, the: Fire Wise Organization and at least 3 new developments for Deschutes County to achieve Fire Wise Community designation. There will be some bumps along the way as we weave thru the terms "fire wise" and "fire free." My intentions are for the two to complement each other but some agency jurisdictions and "maintaining status quo' may get in the way of progress. 3) County ordinance on vacant lots and defensible space for the unprotected lands. Update for the BOCC. "Enhancing the lives of citizens by delivering quality services in a cost-effective manner.
