MINUTES OF MEETING
DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2005
Commissioners' Conference Room - Administration Building - 1300 NW Wall St.., Bend
Present were Commissioners Michael M. Daly and Dennis R. Luke; Commissioner
Tom De Wolf was out of the office. Also present were Mike Maier, County
Administrator; Susan Ross, Commissioners' Office; and one citizen. No
representatives of the media were present.
The meeting began at 9: 00 a.m.
1. Before the Board was Citizen Input.
None was offered.
2. Before the Board was Consideration of Chair Signature of a Notice of
Intent to Award Contract regarding the Remodeling and Construction of
the South County Service Center in La Pine.
Susan Ross said that only one bid was received, from Kirby Nagelhout
Company. Most contractors appear to be too busy or the project is too small for
them to work on. The original cost estimate at the time the bonds were issued
was $200,000. However, the bid came in at $275,000. Much of the additional
expense is relative to the increase in the cost of oil products and steel.
The Commissioners examined the floor plan, and Ms. Ross gave an overview of
the scope of the project. The Sheriff's Office and Justice Court areas should be
ready to occupy by March 1, 2006. She added that general County project
funds have been budgeted for this expense. The Commissioners asked if the
courtroom could be used by the public for meetings, and Ms. Ross confirmed
that access to the room from the outside could make that use appropriate.
