BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON
A Resolution Adopting the Deschutes
County Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan RESOLUTION NO. 2006-009
Whereas, Deschutes County recognizes the threat that natural hazards pose to people and
property within our community; and
Whereas, undertaking hazard mitigation actions will reduce the potential for harm to people
and property from future hazard occurrences; and
Whereas, an adopted Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan is required as a condition of future
funding for mitigation projects under multiple FEMA pre- and post -disaster mitigation grant
programs; and
Whereas, Deschutes County fully participated in the FEMA -prescribed mitigation planning
process to prepare this Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan; and
Whereas, the Oregon Office of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency
Management Agency, Region X officials have reviewed the "Deschutes County, Oregon
Multi -Hazard Mitigation Plan" (dated, 2006) and approved it (dated, 2006) contingent upon
this official adoption of the participating governments and entities; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES
COUNTY, OREGON, as follows:
Section 1. That the document entitled "Deschutes County, Oregon Natural Hazards
Mitigation Plan", is hereby approved and adopted as an official plan.
Section 2. Deschutes County will submit this Adoption Resolution to the Oregon
Office of Emergency Management and Federal Emergency Management Agency, Region X
officials to enable the Plan's final approval.
