2006-479-Resolution No. 2006-040 Recorded 5/9/2006REV�IED/1 L GAL COUNSEL DESCHUTESFICIAL CLERK CJ 1006.479 COMMISSIONERS' JOURNAL i 1uiimuiuu 05/09/2006 03;09:11 PM BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON A Resolution Adopting the Greater Sisters Community Wildfire Protection Plan * RESOLUTION NO. 2006-040 WHEREAS, the Healthy Forests Restoration Act (P.L. 106-393) directs federal agencies in collaboration with local communities to develop plans to reduce fire hazard fuels, prioritize treatment areas, expedite the process for determining environmental impacts from such fuel reduction programs and directs federal funds in accordance with adopted Community Wildfire Protection Plans; and WHEREAS, community members of Sisters, Oregon came together with representatives from the Sisters — Camp Sherman Rural Fire Protection District, Oregon Department of Forestry, the USDA Forest Service, the USDI Bureau of Land Management and Deschutes County to review and revise the Greater Sisters Country Community Wildfire Protection Plan; and WHEREAS, the Revised Greater Sisters Country Community Wildfire Protection Plan identifies and prioritizes areas for hazardous fuels reduction treatments and recommends the types and methods of treatment of Federal and non -Federal lands that will protect one or more at -risk communities and essential infrastructure; and recommends measures to reduce structural ignitability throughout the at -risk community; and WHEREAS, the Revised Greater Sisters Country Community Wildfire Protection Plan ("the Revised Plan") was amended to include an expanded wildland-urban interface boundary; and WHEREAS, for the Revised Greater Sisters Country Community Wildfire Protection Plan to take effect, it is necessary that the Board accept and approve the Plan; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DESCHUTES COUNTY, OREGON as follows: Section 1. That the document entitled "Revised Greater Sisters Country Community Wildfire Protection Plan" is hereby approved and adopted.
