It was understood that these dollars may be used to contract out for prescriber services or that we may decide to create a new FTE to perform the additional prescribing needed. After completing an analysis of the costs and benefits we have decided it would better suit the needs of the Mental Health to create a new FTE and have the prescribing done from within. Looking at the attached spreadsheet with the resolution details it is clear that the $80,000 does not cover the approximate annual cost of the new 1.0 requested FTE. If this resolution is approved we will be terminating 2 existing contracts with prescribers that will save us around $50,000/year, which will give us enough additional resources including the $80,000, to pay for this new position for at least 2 years. The FTE request is for a 28A/step 9. We feel strongly that this position must pay at step 9 in order to meet market conditions for this particular profession, and even at step 9 we are not altogether confident that we will have a strong field of applicants. Please let me know if you have any questions.
