Before the meeting was convened, Chairman Young announced that today,
May 7, was "Student Involvement Day" and that there was in attendance
eight students from Bend and Redmond High that have been elected by
their peers to act as County Officials for the Day. Commissioner
Bob Montgomery introduced them: Acting County Commissioners, Sally
Penhollow, John Wyatt, Sue McGeary; Acting County Clerk, Vickie Antilla;
Acting County Treasurer, Pam Thomas; Acting County Assessor, Tim Larkin;
Acting Sheriff, Jim Morrison and Acting District Attorney, Jim Rex.
Chairman Young opened the meeting with the Annexation of Saddleback and
Saddleback West Subdivisions to Rural Fire Protection Dist. No. 2.
Commissioner Grubb moved that beings there was no objection to this
annexation, that it be granted. Abe Young seconded this motion and
it passed. Commissioner Montgomery abstained.
Next item on the agenda was the Hearing on the Vacation of the Plat of
Second Unit of Valley Ridge Acres, as petitioned by Jack Oliver. As
no one present objected, Commissioner Grubb moved and Commissioner
Montgomery seconded that this vacation be granted. Vote was unanimous.
Commissioner Grubb presented the resolution appointing members to the
Deschutes County Overall Economic Development Committee. There are
approximately 111members on the committee. They have been appointed
to various sub-commitees. This committee is necessary for Deschutes
County to receive funding for various community projects. Don Grubb
moved that the resolution appointing members to this committee be
adopted. Bob Montgomery seconded and it passed with a unanimous vote.
Mrs. Peg Iseli, Mrs. Carol Orr, Dallas Arnold, Steve Wilkins, Del Yates,
with Rodger Prowell as an alternate, were chosen as the Health Insurance
Committee for Deschutes County. Their function will be to review and
recommend health insurance programs to the Board of Commissioners.
These appointments were made by unanimous approval of the Board.

Dave Hoerning presented the Commission with resolutions to establish
Pine Haven Avenue, Fargo Lane, Juniper Haven Avenue, and Wood Haven
Avenue all in Reed Market East Subdivision. These roads have been
built to county standards and are now ready to be incorporated into
the county maintained system. Bob Montgomery moved that June 18, 1975
at 10:00 a. m. be set as the hearing for objections or remonstrances
to said resolution. Commissioner Grubb seconded the motion and it
passed with a unanimous vote of the Commission.
As there were no objections to the establishment of Rogers Road as
a county road, Charles Plummer presented the Commission with an order
establishing Rogers Road as a county road. Don Grubb moved and Bob
Montgomery seconded that Rogers Road be added to the county maintained
system. Vote was unanimous.
Lorin Morgan presented the Commission with an Amendment pertaining
to retail provisions in C-1 Zones. Because the Commission was not
satisfied with the contents of the Amendment, they sent it back to
the Planning Commission for more consideration.
There being no further business or discussion at this time, the meeting
was adjourned at 11:10 a. m.
