Chairman Young called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. There was
no discussion on Road Dept. or General Fund bills.
First order of business was the final decision on the Road Dept.
Supplemental Budget. Approval of the supplemental budget would
allow the road dept. to order 3 dump trucks, 1 chip spreader, and
4 snow plows. Severallocal contractorswere present to object to
the county purchasing the chip spreader. They would like the county
to work up some figures showing how they can justify the $35,000.00
purchase. Commissioner Grubb moved that the Road Dept. Supplemental
Budget be approved. Commission Montgomery seconded the motion. The
vote of the Commission was unanimous. Commissioner Grubb made a
second motion that the equipment listed in the supplemental budget,
with the exception of the chip spreader be bought. Commissioner
Montgomery seconded the motion and the vote of the Commission was
unanimous. The Commission will have their auditor work up some
figures on the chip spreader to see if the county can justify the
purchase. After the auditor has finished with his report a copy
will be available for the contractors.
Next order of business was a Resolution to request for Deschutes Co.
from the Oregon State Health Division, the authority, responsibilities,
and functions of the Administrator in regard to the fee collection,
licensing, and inspection of Food Services, Tourist Facilities and
Swimming Pools. Commissioner Grubb moved that this resolution be
adopted and Commissioner Montgomery seconded the motion. Vote of the
Commission was unanimous. A letter along with a copy of said
resolution will be sent to the State Health Division.
