This meeting dealt with presentations from various engineering firms to do the sewer study in the LaPine area. The firms that were presenting what they could do and for how much were: James M. Montgomery, Inc. in Salem, Oregon; Rittenhouse-Zeman & Assoc. from Beaverton, Oregon; and R. W. Beck & Assoc. from Seattle, Washington and Colvin. & Hoerning from Bend, Oregon and Century West from Bend, Oregon. There was much discussion over who would have the project. The merits of each firm was discussed and past work that was performed. Commissioner Paulson stated that if the Commission were going by cost, Century West would be the best bet. Commissioner Paulson felt that the project should be kept inside the county. Commissioner Shepard felt that Beck probably has the best system; but based on the situation locally in LaPine and the complexities;: geographically and sociologically that it would be best to get a local firm. MOTION: COMMISSIONER PAULSON moved that for all the reasons pre- viously discussed that the Board approve the proposal and hiring of Century West Engineering Corporation to do the Deschutes County 208 Study. COMMISSIONER SHEPARD: Second. Chairman Young stated that the price was right for Deschutes County and it was a local firm. VOTE COMMISSIONER PAULSON: Aye. COMMISSIONER SHEPARD: Aye. CHAIRMAN YOUNG: Aye. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS /jo
