BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
SEPTEMBER 2, 1980 - BOARD MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. by Chairman Young, with Commissioner Paulson
absent.
The first discussion was concerning Special Road District #4, Lazy River, South LaPine.
Mr. Jerry Johnson, President for the road district, related the main concern regarding the
bridge. The banks of the bridge have deteriorated and are now gone. He explained the
seriousness of this condition and expressed the need to repair the banks. Mr. Johnson stated
that the district does not have sufficient funds for this repair, and at present, is in debt
to the county for $1,900.00. The bridge needs to be brought up to county standards, and
the district is requesting funds for this maintenance. Commissioner Shepard suggested the
idea of grants for this repair. Chairman Young stated that grants are not being given easily
during the current time. The district contains 360 individual property owners, 70 of which
are year-round residents. Mail service, school buses and other such services use this
bridge to accommodate the district. Chairman Young stated that,he will notify the Road
Department of this problem and have them evaluate the bridge and the necessary repairs.
Also, Mr. Johnson requested that the Board write letters to two new members of the district
recongizing them as members. The new members are Mr. Roy Locke, Jr. and Mr. Frank Worley.
