DESCHUTES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
JUNE 2, 1981 -SPECIAL MEETING
Chairman Paulson called the meeting between the Board and the Depart-
ment heads to order at 3:00 p.m. He explained the purpose of the
meeting, which was to prepare information to give to the public regarding
the County's June 30 budget election.
He suggested having the Board take the responsibility of lining up
speaking engagements, to prevent too much splintering in this area
between departments.
Marvin Young, County Extension Agent, presented some ideas to the Board
that he had formulated to inform the public of the Extension Service
B Ballot. He had prepared two information sheets. These ideas were
discussed. There was some discussion on distribution of these flyers.
Commissioner Paulson suggested having all information go through some
kind of a clearinghouse to avoid duplication and confusion.
Gail Hill of the Bulletin said that the Bulletin is going to do a separate
newspaper article)hon each of the B Ballots. Jane Kirkpatrick said that
their Advisory Board has set up an account that is accepting donations
for the passage of the County budget. A member of the Employee';s Council
said0that they have about $100 in the credit union that may also be
available for this purpose. Eileen Donaldson said that the United Senior:
Citizens of Bend is in full support of the County ballots.
After some further discussion, Chairman Paulson suggested that each
department on a B ballot submit a draft of the information they want
to distribute to the public to the Board by Thursday, for the Board's
review. It was agreed to meet again on the following Thursday afternoon
at 3:00 p.m. to compile this information.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
