9-1. MERGER OF THE SISTERS AND CAMP SHERMAN RURAL FIRE DISTRICTS.
QUESTION:
Shall the Sisters and Camp Sherman Fire Districts merge?
EXPLANATION:
By merging, the two districts will become one district. Sisters will be the surviving district. The
effective date of the merger is 6-30-89. The merger is expected to save costs. Voters in both districts
must approve the merger for it to take place. The district will be run by a five member board of
directors. The new directors will be selected from the existing directors of each district.

REDMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT 2J
9-2. SCHOOL DISTRICT OPERATING LEVY.
QUESTION:
Shall Redmond School District 2J levy $952,967 in 1988-89 in excess of the amount levied for
operating purposes in 1987-88 and outside its tax base?
EXPLANATION:
Redmond School District encompasses more than 550 square miles. Approximately 2,000 students
are transported each day. Some students must ride as far as 25 miles one way to their elementary
or secondary schools.
No transportation will be provided from September 6th to September 20th of this school year.
Passage of this levy will reinstate transportation to the same level as provided at the start of the last
school year, effective September 21, 1988.
Failure of this levy will eliminate home to school transportation for the entire 1988-89 school year.
Only the special education students who must be transported by law, will be bussed if the levy fails.

9-3. SCHOOL DISTRICT OPERATING LEVY.
QUESTION:
Shall Redmond School District 2J levy $286,922 in 1988-89 in excess of the amount levied for
operating purposes in 1987-88 and outside its tax base?
EXPLANATION:
Passage of this levy will enable the school district to add 3 teachers, 1 counselor,and replacement
equipment. It will also provide funds to improve building maintenance and repair.
Failure of this levy will cut $286,922 from the district's budget. Class sizes would increase, the
counseling program would be reduced,and needed repairs and replacements would be postponed.

9-4. SCHOOL DISTRICT OPERATING LEVY.
QUESTION:
Shall Redmond School District 2J levy $223,385 in 1988-89 in excess of the amount levied for
operating purposes in 1987-88 and outside its tax base?
EXPLANATION:
The current safety net budget for Redmond School District will providefunding onlyforfall athletics.
Each student is required to assist with the cost by paying to participate-$35.00 for Redmond High
School and $20.00 for Obsidian Junior High School.
Last school year, 415 students participated in winter or spring athletics at the High School while over
200 participated at the Junior High School.
Passage of this levy will provide funding for students to participate this year in winter and spring
athletics. Students would still be required to pay $35.00 or $20.00 annually.
Failure of this levy will eliminate school district funding for winter and spring athletics.
