QUESTION:Shall Redmond School District 2J levy$410,010 in 1987-88 in excess of the amount levied for operating purposes in 1986-87 and outside its tax base? EXPLANATION:Redmond School District students continue to score well above the national average on standardized tests, while the average expenditure per student ranks in the lower third in the state. Obsidian Junior High School has received national recognition for excellence and a Redmond High School teacher was named Oregon Teacher of the year. The $410,010 requested represents the amount that is necessary for the District to offer the SAME educational program as last year, which includes kindergarten. The estimated 1987-88 General Fund levy rate is$14.96 for$1,000 of assessed valu- ation.
