QUESTION:Shall Bend-LaPine School District levy$2,428,968.00 in 1987-88 in excess
of the amount levied for operating purposes in 1986-87 and outside its tax base?
EXPLANATION:The purpose of this levy is to fund continuation of the basic educational
programs and support services of the Bend-LaPine Public Schools in 1987-88.This levy
would restore many "safety-net" budget cuts, including:
• textbooks and instructional equipment
• all home-to-school pupil transportation reductions
• basic instructional programs and activities
• athletics for grades 7-12
• approximately 40 school and support personnel
• community use of facilities
This levy, plus the "safety-net', will have an estimated tax rate of $11.98 per $1000 of
assessed valuation. That tax rate is exclusive of existing levies for
bus replacement and retirement of bonded debt. YES 8

QUESTION: Shall Redmond School District 2J levy $410,010 in 1987-88 in excess of
the amount levied for operating purposes in 1986-87 and outside its tax base?
EXPLANATION: Redmond School District students continue to score well above the
national average on standardized tests,while the average expenditure per student ranks
in the lower third in the state.
Obsidian Junior High School has received national recognition for excellence and a
Redmond High School teacher was named Oregon Teacher of the year.
The $410,010 requested represents the amount that is necessary for the District to offer
the SAME educational program as last year, which includes kindergarten.
The estimated 1987-88 General Fund levy rate is$14.96 for$1,000 of assessed valuation.
The estimated tax cost forthis measure is an ESTIMATE ONLY based
on the best information available from the County Assessor at the

CITY OF SISTERS
1. ONE YEAR SPECIAL LEVY FOR WATER SYSTEM AND CONSTRUCTION.
QUESTION:Shall the City of Sisters levy$25,000.00 outside the tax base in FY1987-88
for water system study and construction?
EXPLANATION:The proceeds from this special one year levy to be made in 1987-88
will be used to pay for a water system engineering study,and to pay for replacement of
certain segments of water transmission lines.The purpose of the study is to update the
city master water plan. The study is to include recommendations to the City Council on
water usage and rate structures.Pipeline scheduled to be replaced includes portions of
10"mainline on Cascade Street;various segments of 6"and 8"laterals are also proposed.
